The Roadmap to Finding Your Zone of Genius
Every week, my inbox fills with messages like this:
That message stopped me in my tracks.
Because I know what it’s like to feel stuck.
Not because you don’t have a job, but because the work you're doing no longer reflects who you are becoming.
For me, that moment came while I was still teaching in schools.
I love teaching others, and on paper, I was doing what I was trained to do.
But deep down, something kept whispering: This isn’t it. You’re meant for more.
That whisper led me to start my own business, coaching, creating, and sharing my message with a wider audience.
When your career feels misaligned, it’s not always easy to explain why.
You might just feel like something is missing.
That “missing” piece?
It’s often your genius; the work that feels natural, energizing, and uniquely yours.
Here’s how to start reconnecting with it:
1. Reflect on Your Journey
List every role, job, side hustle, or creative pursuit you’ve taken on.
Where did you feel the most alive? What tasks did you look forward to?
You’re not just collecting memories. You’re uncovering clues.
2. Connect the Dots
Now zoom out.
Are there patterns in what you loved doing?
Were you mentoring, solving problems, creating content, or organizing chaos?
Those repeating themes are more than coincidence.
They’re breadcrumbs pointing you home.
3. Align Passion with Purpose
Loving what you do is powerful, but the real transformation happens when you find a way to use your gifts in service of others.
Ask yourself:
How can what I love doing make a real difference in someone else's life?
Your purpose often lives right at the intersection of what you’re naturally great at and what the world truly needs.
4. Take Imperfect Action
You don’t need a perfect plan to begin.
Start offering your gifts.
Share your knowledge. Test ideas.
Take one small, real-world step toward using your genius, and learn as you go.
Progress doesn’t come from overthinking.
It comes from moving forward before you feel "ready."
5. Stay True to Your Calling
The world will offer endless distractions: "safe" paths, shiny opportunities, tempting shortcuts.
But when you know your Zone of Genius, your greatest job is to stay anchored in it.
Real growth doesn’t come from chasing trends. It comes from deepening your alignment with the work that truly fulfills you.
Action Plan: How to Step Into Your Zone of Genius
Create a “Genius Inventory.” Write down your top energizing moments from past work or projects. List your energizing tasks and strengths.
Ask 5 people you trust: “When have you seen me at my best?”
Identify your common threads. What keeps showing up?Experiment publicly. Share your genius through a blog, project, or offer.
Track your energy. Notice what activities leave you feeling more alive.
Commit for 30 days. Focus on one genius activity daily, even if just 15 minutes.
Now choose one action. Pick one thing you can do this week that reflects your Zone of Genius, no matter how small.
Start simple. Start today.
Small, consistent steps lead to big breakthroughs.

The sooner you step into it, the bigger the impact you’ll make.
And when you start showing up from that place - your work feels different.
